Miso

Ruddy bowls brood in a circle

like rosewood around the wrist of a monk,

each brimming with miso broth:

It tastes of glass wind bells

pealing with good fortune

and dried fish meat

sliced into translucent tissue

and temple smoke

sifting out from under the gills of a mushroom.
