How to Maintain a Balanced and Healthy Lifestyle in College
The greatest form of self-love:
People often ask me how I maintain a healthy lifestyle in college.
Here are my top three recommendations:
Write down your goals, and get an accountability partner
Ask for help if needed/ do your research
Be compassionate with yourself! Portion size is key!
There is an imminent getting “skinny” craze that is fueled by social media and comparison. You should want to be the best version of yourself for YOURSELF only. Not for others.
What is so interesting to me is that fact that we truly are what we eat. When you fill yourself up with tons of junk food you cannot perform well as a person (or as a student), because that sort of food lacks nutritional value. Of course, it is extremely important to live freely and eat whatever you want every now and then. Your daily plate, however, should look like below:
Eating healthy is NOT just about eating salads for every meal. It is about cultivating a healthy balance: adding more vegetables and color to your plates instead of another helping of pasta or pizza. Vegetables don’t have to be boring! Add spices and/or grill them.
Be sure to drink water throughout the day (start by having strictly 3 cups of water or more, for at least one meal everyday).
The process of reaching your goals is truly 80% contingent on diet and 20% contingent on consistent exercise. Love your body even more by feeding it the fuel you need to be the best version yourself as possible! This is the greatest form of self-love.
